EAVA is a non-profit organization focusing on advancing the science and art of anatomy. It was founded in 1964 in Vienna and the main goals of the association are:
- To establish good relationships between veterinary anatomists by organizing yearly meetings in alternate places
- To transfer information about research projects and results by presenting reports and lectures
- To exchange experience concerning teaching methods, didactic techniques and curricula
- To promote the exchange of assistants and publications
